Asda is opening one of its new format of convenience stores in Acton this Tuesday (12 December).

The Asda Express, which will be the sixth standalone store of its kind, will be located on the ground floor of Bobbin House on Friary Road, across the road from Acton Mainline train station.

Asda says the store will stock 3,000 products including a comprehensive range of fresh, ambient and chilled groceries, as well as a broad selection of beers, wines and spirits.

It will also offer a variety of additional services to customers including a Costa Coffee machine, in-store Bakery, Krispy Kreme Kiosk, an ATM and Lotto. The store will be open from 7am – 10pm, Monday – Sunday.

The roll out of Asda Express is part of Asda’s long-term strategy to become the UK’s second largest supermarket by establishing a presence in the fast-growing convenience sector. Asda plans to launch a further 300 standalone Express stores by the end of 2026. A similar store was launched in Ealing two weeks ago.

Asda says the store will stock over 3,000 products

Andy Perry, MD of Convenience at Asda said, “We’re excited to be bringing our new convenience offering to Acton and we’re confident the store will offer customers everything they need - whether that’s popping in for a pint of milk, grabbing a spot of lunch on the go, or buying the fresh ingredients to cook dinner from scratch.

“We’re also delighted to be welcoming 13 new colleagues to the Asda family and thank them for their hard work so far in bringing our convenience vision to life.”

Last month, Asda accelerated its move into the convenience market with the announcement that it had kicked off its conversion of 119 Co-op convenience stores and attached petrol stations. The retailer also completed its acquisition of EG Group in October, which will see a further 356 convenience stores on petrol forecourts be converted to Asda Expresses.
