Throughout his legendary career, The Who's guitarist Pete Townshend has written lyrics hailed by critics and fans as both profound and incomprehensible.

Born in Chiswick in 1945, Townshend uses familiar territory in his lyrics for Stardom in Acton in which he writes stardom is all Acton's got.

The track, recorded in 1982, appears on the All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes and was accompanied by a pop video which, according to an eagle eyed Acton resident and member of the Churchfield Community Association, shows Townshend with with rest of the group walking around Churchfield Road, Acton.

Slightly further afield, it was announced this week Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey are to play their first gig in a decade at this summer's London Music Festival, a grown-up music event that is set to replace the now defunct Party in the Park.
