Fed and Watered, the popular bar and restaurant on Churchfield Road, is making a surprise return after its closure this August.

Owner Chris Walsh had announced that he was shutting the establishment on Instagram after three years in the area. The inauspicious timing of the launch during Covid and the current economic situation were given as the reason for the decision.

However, the venue on the corner of Myrtle Road which is marked out by the famous ‘Shisoka’ mural and featured in the TV series Motherland, is now reopening four evenings a week as a bar only from 4pm to 11pm Wednesday to Saturday. Dubbed ‘Poets’ on its web site it is hoped that ultimately the kitchen will reopen.

It is understood that a deal with the landlord has allowed the venue to restart on a limited trial basis.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.
