Special offer on refuse bag sales which begin next week
Green-fingered gardeners planning to give their garden a spring-clean have been given a helping hand by Hounslow Council, which is bringing back its successful garden waste collection service.
Whether it’s grass clippings, twigs, small branches, weeds or other prunings, the scheme will ensure that all garden waste is put to good use - material collected is sent for central composting, and the compost can be purchased from Space Waye, the Council’s Reuse and Recycling Centre, for £1.50 per bag.
Principal Recycling Officer, Natasha Epstein, said: “This was a very popular service last year, when we collected 850 tonnes of garden waste. We’ve extended this year’s scheme to provide a new and even better service, with an introductory offer of five free sacks if you order before the end of March!”
The garden waste bags are biodegradable, which means they can be composted along with the garden waste, and residents are reminded not to use to them for stones, gravel, soil, rubble, food waste or general rubbish.
Bag sales kick off next week (21 February), and collections will begin on 7 March.
For all sack sales or collection enquiries, call ECT Recycling Ltd on 020 8813 3191/3192. For more information on the scheme, contact Hounslow’s Recycling Team on 020 8583 5068 or email recycling@hounslow.gov.uk.
To use the scheme, residents must use London Borough of Hounslow Green Garden Waste Collection Sacks, bought from ECT Recycling Ltd.
