Two parked cars were destroyed by fire in the early house of 27th February in Stamford Brook Avenue. Residents were woken at about 4.30 a.m. by the sound of explosions in the street.

The front of a car parked facing south was in flames, and the fire soon spread to the car that was parked next to it.
London Fire Brigade promptly arrived after an emergency call was made by a resident.

The crew were able to use two hydrants close to the incident to put out the fires, as residents watched anxiously.

Daylight revealed that the front both of cars were completely burned out.

What caused the fire is not known at this stage.
