One dead and two other critical as BMW crashes into central reservation
Police are appealing for information after a fatal collision in Shepherd's Bush on Sunday 10.9.06. At around 04.40 officers responded to a road traffic collision on the westbound A40 - on the flyover above Wood Lane, W12. It is believed that only one vehicle - a silver BMW 328i coupe - was involved in collision with the metal barriers at the side of the road and in the central reservation. One man was pronounced dead at the scene; two others were taken to New Charing Cross Hospital where one is in a critical condition and the other one serious. The dead man has been formally identified as Simon Patterson [24] of Ruislip; two others were taken to New Charing Cross Hospital in a critical condition. They are also in their mid twenties and hail from the Harrow and Kenton area. The fire brigade also attend the scene and extinguished a fire that started in the vehicle following the collision. The westbound carriageway re-opened on Sunday evening. Sgt Mark Drummond from Hampton Traffic Garage said: "We are aware from CCTV that a number of drivers of vehicles would have witnessed the collision, however not all have come forward. We are keen to speak to them as they may have vital information." Enquiries to establish the cause of the incident are underway by officers from the Collision Investigation Unit at Hampton.
