Huge range in prices achieved for local homes during the month
The latest official data for the Acton property market shows a wide range in the type of home that changed hands during February. The most expensive property went for £1,375,000 in Avenue Crescent. This was the 16th most expensive home sale ever in W3. At the other end of the scale a flat in Ebbett Court, Victoria Road was sold for £75,000. During the month 29 properties sold at an average price of £410,252, which is well above previous levels, although the relatively small number of transactions makes it difficult to reach a firm conclusion about the general direction of the market. The February data from Land Registry's House Price Index shows an annual price decrease of 0.6% which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £161,588. The region in England and Wales which experienced the highest increase in its average property value over the last 12 months is London with a movement of 4.2% to £354,300. The most up-to-date figures available show that, during December 2011, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales increased by 8 per cent to 61,470 compared to 56,875 in December 2010. The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in December 2011 decreased by 13 per cent to 488 from 559 in December 2010.
