Two women had to be rushed to hospital after being rescued by fire fighters from a tower block in South Acton.

The fire took hold shortly before 1:43pm this Tuesday (11 June) in a four-room third floor flat on Park Road North which is between Avenue Road and Bollo Bridge Road.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters including crews from Chiswick, Ealing, Hammersmith and surrounding fire stations attended the scene after 15 calls were received from members of the public. It took London Fire Brigade less than an hour to get the fire under control.

The women were found to have suffered from smoke inhalation by paramedics.

Part of a four-roomed third floor flat in a 13-storey residential block was damaged by fire. Two women were rescued from the flat by firefighters. They have been taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews suffering from smoke inhalation.

People were advised to avoid the area whilst firefighters worked to bring the fire under control.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
