Nine people were rescued by firefighters from a severe blazeon Horn Lane near the junction with Churchfield Road this Tuesday morning (11 October).

Three women, two men and two children were lifted from a second floor of the property above the premises of Atlas Estate Agents and adjacent to the Estoril restaurant. Firefighters used a nearby buildings ladder to rescue a further two men who were on a flat roof at the rear of the block.

Ten residents from the building affected and three from a neighbouring block left before the Brigade arrived.

London Ambulance Service crews took two men to hospital who were suffering from smoke inhalation and treated numerous others at the scene.

Station Manager Carl St Paul, who was at the scene said, “The initial crews worked exceptionally hard to rescue men, women and children from the blaze which was well developed. The fire was under control at around 6.30am but we’ll have crews here throughout the morning damping down. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the police and fire investigators.”

The Brigade was called at 4.19am and the fire was under control just over two hours later. Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers from Acton, Chiswick, Ealing, Park Royal and Hammersmith fire stations attended the scene.
