Rolly Flores thought he had arranged meeting with a child February 4, 2025 A 37-year-old intensive care nurse who lives in Acton was caught by a police sting after he solicited sexually explicit images from what he believed to be a 14-year-old boy. Rolly Flores of Victoria Road made contact with ‘Max’ in June 2023 through the dating app Grindr which is supposed to have a minimum age to join of 18. However, undercover officers made it clear to Flores that the person he was communicating with was 14. Through the app and later on WhatsApp, Flores sent photos and asked for some in return. He later arranged a meeting at the Bluewater Shopping Centre with the boy with a view to taking him home to have sex. Philippines national, Flores had second thoughts about the meeting and cancelled saying he was busy at work it but was later arrested when officers became aware that he may have been making plans to leave the country. He entered a guilty plea to attempted sexual communication with a child and arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence. The judge at Maidstone Crown Court opted for a non-custodial sentence having heard of Flores’ previous good conduct and remorse at what he had done plus his decision not to go through with the meeting. Given the prospect of rehabilitation and prison overcrowding it was determined any risk he posed was manageable and a two-year suspended sentence was given out. In addition, Flores has to complete the sex offender Horizon programme, up to 40 hours of a rehabilitation activity requirement and 280 hours of unpaid work. Flores is also subject to a sexual harm prevention order and sex offender notification requirements for 10 years. Flores no longer works for the NHS and has been receiving financial support and accommodation from the Philippines embassy.
