On Monday and Tuesday in a pre-planned operation, South Acton Safer Neighbourhood Team targeted men involved in drug-related activities on Crown Street and made several arrests. One man was also given a cannabis warning.

Three men were arrested for supplying drugs and four for possession. Another man was also arrested in connection with the supply of controlled drugs.

Sgt Danny Williams of South Acton Safer Neighbourhood Team, recently named Community Police Officer of the Year by the Metropolitan Police, said:

"This operation was an important part of our long-term strategy to rid this area of drugs and to ensure that law-abiding members of the public can go about their business.

"The South Acton Safer Neighbourhood Team was able to respond very quickly thanks to the close attention we paid to CCTV cameras. These cameras are directed by the team and have been an important tool in making these arrests.

"This area, particularly Woodlands Park, should be for local families and children to use. Recently, the situation has degenerated and it has become unsafe.

"We want to extend the use of CCTV to the park and will be taking steps to ensure that this happens in the near future."
