Pepper spray believed to have been used in robbery
Hammersmith & Fulham Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information concerning a robbery that took place on the 17 July at around 6.30pm. The male victim was out running on Wormwood Scrubs when he stopped to find his phone close to where the Scrubs joins Braybrook Street. Suddenly someone grabbed him by the throat and it is believed that he was sprayed in the face with pepper spray. The victim fell to the floor with one of the muggers holding him round the throat. A comment was also made by one of the attackers along the lines of, "You are trying to get into the Met Police, you are a grass". It is believed that three men were involved in the robbery in which a number of items of personal property were taken from the victim. The man had to be sent to hospital for treatment for injuries to his face and as a result of being sprayed with a noxious substance but was not detained. However, he is still receiving treatment for an eye injury at another hospital. The first man is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall, Irish accent, short brown hair with a stocky build. He had a goatee beard in the middle of his chin and was wearing a very large gold ring on his left hand that appeared to cover two fingers. The second suspect is a white male of indeterminate age, 5 feet 2" tall and wearing a white peaked baseball cap and blue body warmer. The third man was not seen by his victim. If anyone can assist police with any information that could lead to the arrest of the three suspects, please contact Detective Constable Shirelle Barlow from the Robbery Squad at Hammersmith Police Station on 0208 246 2678 or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 July 19, 2007 |
