Intensive drama school style experience for 7-11 year olds with industry professionals What? A week long intensive drama school style experience for 7-11 year olds, resulting in a final performance for the parents on the last day. Where? Acton Baptist Church, Church Road, Acton, London, W3 8PP When? Monday 1st – Friday 5th August 2016, 9am – 3.30pm Who is welcome? – All children from ages 7 – 11. The workshop leaders have experience with Special Educational Needs and Challenging Behavior, and the week will be very inclusive. Who is running it? – Trained industry professionals who work with children on a daily basis; Lily Levin Trained at CDS approved Drama School, East15 Acting School. Performer, Director, Film Maker. By Day – Works in 4 Oak at Derwentwater Primary School. (Fully First Aid Trained) Melissa Johns Also Trained at East 15, and has since made several BBC appearances as a rising pioneer for the disabled acting community. E.g. The Interceptor, Casualty & Doctors. (Fully First Aid Trained) Also experienced working with children and young people and running drama workshops. Drama school trained leaders may be added/subtracted according to demand. What will the workshops involve? A carefully scheduled program using a wide range of games and exercises taken straight from a typical drama school day. The young actors will learn professional warm up and focus techniques, as well as team work and communication skills. Throughout the week we will be devising a show/shows based on the children’s own experiences and ideas. Not all children will be expected to perform – there will be opportunities to direct, write, choreograph etc – the goal is to play to each child’s strengths and create a mini industry.
