About ActonW3.com

ActonW3.com is a local digital newspaper. It is the most popular media for the Acton area of West London with up to 2,000 people a day visiting the site.

It provides regularly updated, original news stories specifically about Acton as well as a host of interactive features for local residents.

From May 2020 the site has been managed by Neighbour Net and edited by a team who live in the area.
Since November 2020,former editor Annemarie Flanagan, a fully trained journalist with experience of working for national newspaper titles and broadcasters, has provided features.
A number of local writers regularly contribute items to the site as well as site members who occasionally submit items for publication. ActonW3.com is also a partner in the BBC's Local Democracy Reporter Scheme and some of the articles appearing on the site are from that source.

Neighbour Net

ActonW3.com is part of a network of local web sites which covers a large part of West and South West London. The company behind this network is Neighbour Net Ltd. It was formed in 1999 and believed to be the biggest provider of dedicated hyperlocal news online in the U.K.

Group wide there are over 49,000 registered members and the sites get collectively around 130,000 unique user sessions a month.

Participate

To fully participate you really should register as a member - it's free and you can the use all of the features on the site.

The site publishes a regular e-mail newsletter with a distribution of over 4,000. It is the only media of any kind specific to the Acton area.

There is no editorial line as we aim to reflect the broad spectrum of views in the community. We aren't political but are quite happy to publish your views if you are - just as we will publish the views of someone who disagrees with you.

Our aim is to be as comprehensive as possible - if your organisation isn't listed here, it is because you haven't asked us.

The site is free for you to use and we have no intention of charging for access. The site is funded by advertising - nearly all of our advertisers are smaller independent local businesses.

Complaints and Corrections

We aim to adhere to the Editors’ Code of Practice and if we have demonstrably failed to do so in anything that we publish we undertake to resolve the situation promptly. Any significant inaccuracy, misleading statement or distortion will be corrected quickly and with due prominence. If appropriate an apology will be published. We use the Editors’ Code of Practice but we are not members of the Independent Press Standards Organisation.

If you are unhappy about an article that has been published on the site in the first instance contact the editor with your concerns. Include your full name, address and phone number in any correspondence.

Our target is that all editors should respond to a complaint within a week of it being sent. If no reply has been received or you are not satisfied with the response then your complaint will be considered by the directors of Neighbour Net Ltd. Forward details to info@neighbournet.com. We aim to respond to all complaints at this stage within ten days although this may take longer if it is necessary to obtain legal advice.

If you remain unsatisfied at this stage we will endeavour to arrange low-cost, mutually agreeable and binding arbitration though an independent third party. The initial cost of this would be payable by the complainant but this would be refundable in whole or part if the arbitrator finds that Neighbour Net have not responded to the complaint adequately.

Note: this procedure does not cover complaints about feedback on the directory or posts made on the forum. They should be addressed directly to info@neighbournet.com.
