The next concert in the Iris Axon series will be by the Bulgarian pianist and composer Petar Dimov on Sunday 5 March at 4pm and will be performed in Acton Hill Church. Petar obtained a Master of Performance degree with Distinction at the Royal College of Music, and was a student of Norma Fisher. Originally from Plovdiv, he was part of a family of folklore musicians. He began playing the piano at the age of 3 with Svetlana Koseva until his graduation with distinction and award for the highest academic and artistic achievements in 2014. A spokesperson for the hosts said, “Some of you may remember him when he played for us before, bringing out untold colours and qualities of our lovely Pinkham grand piano. Petar's programme this time offers many opportunities to explore our piano further in pieces by Schumann, Chopin and an original composition by himself.” The full programme is as follows: Schumann: Kinderszenen,Op.15 Programmes are available at the door (Cash) £5.00 concessions, £6.00 adults, £2.00 children. The concerts take place at 4pm on the first Sunday of each month at the venue which is on the corner of the High Street and Woodlands Avenue (W3 9BU). Iris Axon Concert Series Schedule 2023 2023 Now in its twelfth year, the Iris Axon Concert Series is an annual season of short (60-70 minute) monthly recitals on Sunday afternoons at the Acton Hill Church. The series was started by Music Director Jane Schopf in 2004 to provide a venue for young musicians starting on their professional careers, many of whom have subsequently enjoyed international success in competitions and on the concert platform. The series has continued to grow and now attracts established international artists as well. Originally called the Acton Classical Music Concert Series, it was re-named in 2009 in memory of one of its most loyal supporters, Iris Axon, who made possible the purchase of a concert grand, handmade by Clive Pinkham. The church is deemed ideal for concerts as it has the largest unsupported wooden barrel-vault ceiling in London which brings out the middle harmonics, creating a luxuriously warm sound.
