Action4Syria Concert at St. Mary’s Church Acton | |||||
Featuring a varied line up of international and local musicians
Acton4Syria is a special music evening being held in Acton in aid of Syrian refugees as part of Global Week for Syria. It is taking place on Saturday 1 July, 7.30pm at St Mary's Church on the High Road. Performers include both internationally renowned musicians and locally based artists. There will be a chance to hear Syrian guitarist Ayman Jarjour, tenor Neil Latchman, pianist Yoshiko Endo with cellist Patrick Tapio-Johnson. Also appearing will be violinist Minsi Yang and harpsichordist Yeo Yat-Soon. The event will be raising money for 2 charities: Samara's Aid, a small charity started by a mum who wanted to do something positive for war torn countries in the Middle East – this charity is manned by volunteers only so any money raised goes straight to the projects. The projects they're supporting are to provide medical aid to build hospitals within Syria, and to support local Syrian doctors, nurses and health professionals on the ground. The other charity is Safe Passage which does work with refugees. There will also be interval drinks, cakes and a raffle. Tickets for the concert costing £10 for adults and £8 for children under 8 are available in advance from The Village Trading Store, 29 Churchfield Rd W3 and on the door on the night. If you're not able to make it, they are selling raffle tickets from now onwards – please contact: eilisdevendra@hotmail.com, or roz.hooper@icloud.com, or Sally.Pollock@yahoo.co.uk Raffle prizes include: Leith's one day cookery course, Flower bouquet from Heart and Soul, One day family membership of The Park Club (still open until July 15th!), 1 Hour Reflexology Session.
