There was cause for celebration for a number of Acton firms at the recent West London Business Awards.

Acton based Alexanders, a removals and storage firm, won 4 awards, including the 2022 ‘Company of the year’ prize at the ceremony that was held at Twickenham stadium on 10 February with the presentations being made by Annabel Croft the former professional British tennis player

Alexanders also won ‘Logistics Business of the year’, ‘Community Investment Award’ and ‘Responsible Workplace Award’.

Director Alex Pope commenting on the success said “I’m very proud of Alexanders and I want to pay tribute to all our staff and to those who helped us to get to where we are now. I’m really happy we were able to massively support food banks in West London during Covid. There has never been a greater need for business to help those less fortunate in society”.

Commenting on the success of Alexanders the judges said, “Alexanders have performed exceptionally well this year, winning 4 awards, including two in the Sustainable and Responsible Business category. Away from their performance in their sector category, their workplace responsibility approach and their investment in the community reflects a model organisation adopting an exemplary approach in West London and beyond.”

There was a lifetime achievement award for the Managing Director and co-founder of Dina Foods, Mr Suheil Haddad.

Mr Haddad was recognised for his entrepreneurial vision and skills in building Dina Foods, into an international supplier of Mediterranean foods over the last thirty years. The family business was launched as a bakery in 1992, by Mr Haddad, with his brothers Fadi Haddad, Samir Haddad and Amin Haddad. The vision was to spread the delights of the Lebanese cuisine. Dina Foods now operates from three dedicated factory spaces at the Park Royal estate North-West London and employs more than 160 people.

Andrew Dakers, CEO, West London Business, comments: “The Awards judges recognised that Suheil stood out for a brilliant career that has seen a leader emerge who has coupled nurturing a business from the ground up to the top of its field, with investment in community, philanthropy and most recently the environment.”

“It is an honour to be recognised in these Awards,” comments Suheil Haddad. “I am grateful that I have been able to share my love of high quality authentic Mediterranean food, made to recipes handed down through generations. I would like to thank all the team at Dina Foods, our customers, suppliers and my family for their constant support.”

Dina Foods was also shortlisted as Food and Drink Business of the Year; Green ‘Race to Zero’ Business of the Year; and Park Royal Business of the Year in the Awards. In addition, Dina Foods was shortlisted as a finalist for ‘bakery manufacturer’ award for the Food Manufacture Excellence Awards.

West London Business Leader of the Year went to Barry Bassett of VMI.TV which has premises in Acton.

West London Business represents business in North-West London, covering seven local authority areas and it has been holding awards since 2013.
