Have Your Say On Acton Town Hall Regeneration | ||
Public Viewing of Plans at Priory Centre on 08th March Residents are being asked to comment on the next stage of the £12million project to upgrade and modernise the Acton Town Hall complex. Plans for the site include the provision of a new 25m swimming pool, a trainer pool, a library, leisure facilities, community spaces and council offices. Construction work is scheduled to start in spring 2012, subject to planning permission. Before inviting potential developers to bid for the project, Ealing Council has prepared a draft Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) that gives guidance on important issues such as the design of the site, conservation considerations and transport planning. Residents are being asked to comment on the draft SPD guidance and have until Friday 25 March to let the council know what they think. Results from previous public consultations and the work of the Acton Town Hall Team – the group of local residents set up to advise on the project – has been incorporated into the draft SPD. Architects have also been drawing up some initial design options for the new leisure centre and residents will be able to view and comment on these, as well as on the SPD document, at an exhibition taking place at the Priory Community Centre, Acton Lane, on Tuesday 8 March from 1pm- 8pm. Councillor Julian Bell, Leader of Ealing Council, said: “The Acton Town Hall complex is an important local landmark as well as a well used facility. It is crucial that we get this development right. “We have been working to put together comprehensive guidance for potential developers to ensure that the finished building meets the needs of local residents and retains the site’s best heritage features. I encourage anyone with an interest in the future of this site to come along to the exhibition and complete our survey.” To complete the consultation, go to www.ealing.gov.uk/consultations or contact Shehzad Ahmed on 020 8825 9234 or email ahmedshe@ealing.gov.uk.
