Swan on the Tracks at South Acton Station | ||||
Lost bird holds up two trains during evening rush hour
A white swan somehow found its way onto the tracks at South Acton station this Monday evening (24 January). Two London Overground trains were unable to proceed as staff tried to shepherd the bird off the line as crowds of people on the platform looked on. Eventually he was persuaded to leave the station and was seen by Nicola Cilliers sitting by a bin on nearby Kingswood Terrace on the Chiswick side of the line.
Concerned about the swan’s well-being, Nicola rang a number of animal care agencies including the RSCPA. Eventually London Wildlife Protection Bird Rescue agreed to send a volunteer to come out and take the swan away to a sanctuary.
This Wednesday, Nicola received a call from the sanctuary saying that the swan was doing well and was to be released that day. Nicola commented, “Enough can't be said about the amazing @LWP_BirdRescue and their fantastic work in taking over the care of this beautiful swan.”
