Acton has not avoided Storm Eunice as strong gusts knocked over trees across the W3 area.

A significant number of mature trees have been downed in the area this Friday (18 February).

A large tree came down on top of a parked car on Acton Lane opposite the Ark Priory Primary School. There are no reports of anybody being hurt in this incident or any others in the area and the school was on half term holiday.

The wind started to pick up in the morning and became particularly intense from around 10am to 2pm. Even after 4pm when the Met Office’s red warning was due to expire the gusts remained exceptionally strong.

The management of Gunnersbury Park have said that it is intending to remain closed until Monday morning.

The Royal Parks, including Richmond Park, were closed on Friday.

Network Rail services in London were suspended including the trains operated by Great Western Rail.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
