Yellow Box Junction Planned for Churchfield Road |

Council proposing changes at junction with Goldsmith Road March 23, 2023 Ealing Council is proposing to install more yellow box junctions across the borough over the rest of the year including one in Acton. There are five schemes planned which the council says are being implemented to improved traffic and safety flow. Drivers must not enter a yellow box until there is enough space on the other side of the junction for their vehicle to exit the box fully without stopping. In Acton there will be a box placed at the Churchfield Road junction with Goldsmith Road where there are currently ‘Keep Clear’ markings on the road. The council says that vehicles queueing, when the barrier on the level crossing is down, are preventing traffic exiting from Goldsmith Road onto Churchfield Road. In West Ealing site notices have already been placed at the junctions of Leeland Terrace and Uxbridge Road. This has been designed to deal with the issue of westbound traffic queueing back from the nearby pedestrian crossing blocking traffic emerging or wishing to enter Leeland Terrace. Another yellow box junction is planned at the junction of Cherrington Road and Uxbridge Road in Hanwell with a site notification in place. The council says that eastbound traffic from the Church Road roundabout is blocking the exit of Cherrington Road at peak times. Greenford Road’s junction with Whitton Avenue will also be changed to prevent northbound traffic from Sudbury Hill Station blocking vehicle movements through the junction. The exit slip lane on the Greenford Road Roundabout will also be getting a junction box to stop northbound traffic from Greenford Road blocking the eastbound A40 off slip on the roundabout. The council says on its web site that these new junction boxes will be enforced through penalty charge notices. We asked if the restrictions would be enforced by ANPR cameras but we are yet to receive a reply. If you have comments or questions about these plans you can email highwayservices@ealing.gov.uk.
