Detectives investigating the disappearance of Agnes Akom have discovered human remains and notified her family of the discovery.
The 20-year-old woman from Hungary, who was also known as Dora, was reported missing on Tuesday, 11 May and police have charged 63-year-old Neculai Paizan with her murder. Mr Paizan is believed to have resided in a container on an industrial estate in Park Royal. He is due to
appear at the Old Bailey on Friday, 6 August.
Forensic officers have been at the scene of the discovery in Neasden Recreation Park since Monday (14 June). The body has yet to be formally identified. The park is about two miles away from the home of Agnes Akom in Cricklewood Broadway.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, senior investigating officer from the Met’s Specialist Crime North, said, “The discovery of human remains by my colleagues searching the area is both shocking and deeply disturbing for everyone concerned, in particular for Agnes’s family who continue to be supported by specialist officers. I request that their privacy is respected as this very difficult time.
“I expect my team and forensic colleagues to remain at Neasden Recreation Park for some days to come as they maintain the scene and complete their site examinations.
“I would like to thank the local community for their patience as we continue with our enquiries in the recreation ground.”
Police previously searched the area around Lennox Autos in Park Royal with a forensics team and dogs at the site for three days last month. The police have described this as 'the principal scene of the investigation'.
According to people working at businesses in the area Mr Paizan had been living on a shipping container at the rear of the car showroom.
