Police Issue Renewed Appeal Over Acton Murder | |
Teenager Mahad Ali killed at a house party last month
Detectives investigating the murder of Mahad Ali in East Acton have made a fresh appeal urging anyone with information to come forward.
Detectives believe that between 40 and 50 people attended the party, although there could have been more. In the early hours of Thursday, 29 June, there was a fight inside the venue and then may have spilled outside, resulting in Mahad being stabbed. Now, two weeks on from the tragic death of the teenager, detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, led by Detective Chief Inspector Luke Marks, are seeking any witnesses who might have vital information that could help progress the investigation. DCI Luke Marks, said: "We know there were pockets of violence that occurred in and around the venue that night - separate incidents to the one in which Mahad got stabbed - and are very keen to speak with anyone who was involved in these, as they might have very important information that could shed light on what happened to Mahad. "It is of paramount importance that those who attended and saw the events leading up to the stabbing or the incident itself come forward to talk with us. I appreciate that there maybe some apprehension about approaching police, but I would ask that they do not delay in making that vital decision to speak to us. Mahad's family have been left completely devastated and are desperately seeking answers as to why he was set upon and what sparked the altercation. "He suffered significant injuries and there is a strong possibility that the person or people involved in the attack would have got blood stains on their clothing. I would appeal to anyone who knows that a loved one attended the party, who either washed or threw away items of clothing when they returned home, to approach us. Please do not remain silent. If you have the slightest indication that your loved one may have been involved now is the time to say something. To those mothers, sisters and girlfriends shielding the person or people responsible, please do the right thing." Police were originally called at 02:35hrs on Thursday, 29 June to a warehouse on Coronation Road following reports of a fight. Officers attended and found Mahad suffering stab wounds. They immediately provided first aid before he was taken to a central London hospital by the London Ambulance Service. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at 04:33hrs. A post-mortem examination held at Uxbridge Mortuary gave cause of death as stab wounds to the chest and abdomen. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to call the incident room on 020 8358 0200 or via Twitter @MetCC To give information anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visit crimestoppers-uk.org. There have been three arrests relating to the investigation. A 41-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, 29 June on suspicion of murder and subsequently released under investigation. A 21-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, 2 July on suspicion of murder and bailed to return to a north London police station in early August. A 26-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, 6 July on suspicion of violent disorder and subsequently released under investigation.
