The Wheelies Have Arrived | |
But some residents are angry after getting larger size bins
Residents throughout the borough have been getting their new wheelie bins this week - but the process doesn't appear to have gone too smoothly with larger bins being given to those who had requested smaller size ones. Liberal Democrat councillor for Southfield, Gary Malcolm tweeted; "240L bins for smaller 120L bins getting the bigger bins delivered. People are threatening to dump the bins in the street or take them to the Council offices." Councillor Malcolm, who is opposed to the bins said: "I have received a number of emails from residents who have made requests to Ealing Council about wheelie bins, but the Council has ignored them or not given them the correct size bins. Some people's front gardens are too small. If anyone has any issues you want to report please email your Southfield Councillors at southfield@ealinglibdems.org.uk so that I can raise the concerns with the Council and get problems sorted." Council leader Julian Bell has said that he has asked officers to investigate what has happened. An email has been sent by the Bedford Park Community Group (BPCG) to members saying;"We were sorry to hear that you have had the incorrect wheelie bins delivered by the council contractors in spite of your request for the 120L rubbish bin and/or to cancel the 240L recycling bin, or both 240L bins. The bins are being introduced despite a long campaign of local opposition.
