Approval recommended for scheme near Gunnersbury Triangle Estate

Hounslow Council planners are recommending that approval be given to a new car park for Transport for London staff on Princes Way.
The application (P/2022/2638) is due to be considered by councillors on the planning committee on 12 January 2023 and they will be given a report suggesting it is accepted.
The council planners opted in favour after amendments were received to increase landscaping and biodiversity net-gain and an associated reduction in 6 parking spaces was proposed. It is to be presented to Planning Committee given the significant public interest in the case.
Additional reports have been submitted by the applicant on the plans to replace trees that will need to be removed and the impact on biodiversity.
The proposal is for surface level car parking and associated resurfacing, lighting, signage and landscaping to replace an existing car park on Bollo Lane which is no longer available due to building work.
Some residents were angered when site clearance work commenced at the site, disturbing local wildlife. There was a standoff between contractors and residents of the Gunnersbury Triangle Estate were trying to prevent any work taking place before planning permission has been given. TfL said the work being done was surveying work and planning permission was not required.
If approval is granted, TfL expects the work on the car park to be fully complete by next March. It will provide 65 parking spaces for tube drivers and other staff who work unsocial hours.

The land used to belong to the Gunnersbury Triangle Estate but was sold to London Transport in the seventies. Originally it was bequeathed by the Rothschild family to the nation after the First World War and is part of a Conservation Area including Gunnersbury Park deemed 'Heritage-At-Risk' by Historic England.
