Ealing Council Adopts MND Charter | |
Offering support to carers and those suffering debilitating disease
Ealing councillors have voted to adopt the Motor Neurone Disease Charter. The Charter is a statement of the respect, care and support that people living with MND and their carers deserve and should expect. The five points of the Charter are:
The Conservative group recommended the charter be adopted and Councillor, Fabio Conti, Conservative Member for Health said: “We are pleased that full council agreed our motion for Ealing Council to adopt the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Charter, in order to demonstrate its support and commitment to the needs of the people with motor neurone disease and their carers in the community. ''MND is a life changing, fatal and rapidly progressive disease, and it requires greater awareness of the impact it has on the people affected and their families. We hope that with the adoption of the charter, greater work can be done to ensure that those affected get the good quality care and support they need quickly given the nature of the condition ''The council is well placed through its Health and Wellbeing Board to work with partners to ensure that work can be done not only on the care of people with MND, but to help promote the condition in order to get more people diagnosed early.”
