Police warning residents to be vigilant after attempted break-ins in the area

Am opportunist burglar got more than he bargained for when he recently tried to break in to a property on Birkbeck Road.

Police say the woman resident had left her window open to allow her cat in and out and was alarmed to see someone's hand at the window.

Quick thinking she managed to grab a hockey stick and whacked the thief, who escaped with a book - and sore hand.

Acton Central police have now sent a letter to residents on Birkbeck Road informing them them about two attempted burglaries between 27 November and 29th.
