Haru Maitani awarded a year long school-boy contract
A nine year old who goes to West Acton primary school has been offered a contract with Fulham Football Club under 10s. Haru Maitani has training with the Pro Touch Soccer Academy (PTSA) since May last year and played in the Ibercup Scandinia Tournament in Denmark in the Under 10s category PTSA, though he was an under 9 at the time. The Ibercup is believed to be one of the key youth football tournaments in Europe. Around 60 countries, more than 8000 players, coaches and family from around the world take part and youngsters are given opportunities to compete with some of the best teams in the world such as Liverpool, Manchester City, Sporting Lisbon, Sporting Benfica, Athletico Madrid, and Juventus. Haru’s hard work and stand out performance in the Ibercup was spotted and he was recommended by PTSA’s Assistant Academy Director, Zahid Hossain, to Fulham FC for a 6 weeks trial where he has been offered a 1 year schoolboy professional contract.
