The Goldsmiths Residents’ Association are continuing their fight to save the Goldsmith Arms by forming a company to acquire it.

On the 20 December they held a special general meeting to respond to the owner’s notice of intention to dispose of the asset.

On behalf of the residents and patrons of the Goldsmiths Arms they have incorporated a company limited by guarantee "Goldsmiths Arms W3 Ltd".

This allows a bid to be formally submitted for the Goldsmiths Arms which has been designated an Asset of Community Value which obliges the owner to consider any bid from the community before disposal.

They now have until the 18 May to find investors to buy and run the pub perhaps incorporating a restaurant or a community hub.

They are asking for the assistance of the local community in helping identify anyone who might be interested in buying and running the Goldsmiths Arms.

The Goldsmiths Arms in East Acton closed in September 2017 and despite a huge campaign to keep it as a pub the freeholders claim there has been very little interest from other possible operators.

There was a proposal to demolish the 200-year-old pub and replace it with a 'mixed-use' housing scheme with 72 flats but the owners are now looking to sell the site.

Over 1500 people have signed a petition to save the pub.
