Neighbours are mobilising to help during the current crisis
Whilst there have been many reports of panic buying and a general unease over the initial response to the current situation Ealing neighbours are turning the negative into the positive. A new group has been established to offer help and support for anyone who finds themselves in a difficult situation. Ealing Covid-19 Mutual Aid has been set up on the social media platform Facebook as a public group and organisers say: '' This is a group set up to coordinate support in the Ealing borough. Please share with other people looking to help each other out during the coronavirus pandemic. We will be looking to help people access food, complete errands particularly those who are elderly, disabled and/or immunocompromised.'' If you have a car and can help with shopping (or you may have an abundance of toilet rolls etc which you would consider sharing) can offer legal advice, speak languages or even just make a phone call to anyone who is lonely and isolated, all skills are very welcome during this current worrying time. Efforts will focus on ways of helping that don't risk transmitting the virus so face-to-face contact will be kept to the absolute minimum. The group has been widely applauded and already has over 2000 members and is continuing to grow. Specific local area groups are also being established making use of whatsapp. In Acton local groups can be found via: https://actonnotebook.com/supporting-our-neighbours-through-self-isolation-acton-w3/ and one such group is for the Factory Quarters and can be joined: https://chat.whatsapp.com/KG1XgT41VZ08oYvPZwMxBN
