Meet The Acton Artist

Charlotte Berridge is selling local prints at new pop up shop

A new pop-up shop's opened on the High Street in Acton (next to the George and Dragon pub)  selling a range of unique and designer goods.

Charlotte Berridge is one of the artists at the shop and she tells us how W3 has become her latest creative inspiration.

So, who exactly is Charlotte Berridge?

I'm an Ealing based Designer & illustrator with a BA(hons) in graphic design and illustration. After many years working as a Creative Director in magazines, I decided to ‘ditch-the-stress’ and return to my illustrative roots creating local prints.

I started with Ealing (my home) and have added Hanwell, Chiswick and Acton too. I hope to expand my work across more areas of West London in the future.

You've already built up a following locally focussing on quite a few different areas in Ealing – Acton's the latest - what do you like about Acton?

I've had a lot of enquiries about Acton from my customers, it's a fabulous area of West London and its residents are quite rightly very proud of its heritage. There are so many amazing listed buildings in the area and I couldn't help but be inspired by its rich architecture.

Which landmarks have you chosen here and why?

There are 13 landmarks on my Acton print which I felt represented the area and who's architecture I've always loved.

The Acton Centre, Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, Acton Old Library, St Mary's Parish Church, Old Gala Bingo Hall, Acton Old Town Hall, The Aeronaut, Acton Fire Station, Goldsmiths Almshouses, Passmore cottage hospital, an Old Routemaster Bus (for London Transport museum depot) Acton Town Station and The George & Dragon.

I also have individual cards of the majority of these landmarks too.

What items do you have on sale?

I have a 30x40cm Acton Illustrated Print (£30), an Acton card collection (6 cards for £12) and various individual cards too! Keep watching this space as I hope to add more Acton products shortly too!

What else is at the shop?

There is a great collection of different gifts in the Wonderland Collective Pop Up shop. We are a collective of four Ealing businesses. Kate McKenzie of 'Eat Me Drink Me' has spearheaded the shop and sells gifts from unusual independent designers based in London & beyond. You may recognise her from the fab pop up shop at Ealing's Christmas Market. Raman's company 'Mala & Bunga' has the most beautifully curated collection of jewellery from independent makers and Lucy of Handmade in Ealing makes delicious chocolate.

What reactions have you had so far?

People are so pleased to see something new in Acton High Street & their enthusiasm is amazing! There is lots of interest in my Acton print, I loved creating it so it's great that people are loving it too!

When the pop up pops down… what next?

We're just one week in at our shop in Acton and will be here until April 2nd.

CraftedW5, Ealing's craft market begins again on March 4th (first Saturday of every month) and I will have my monthly stall there with more great Ealing local businesses so pop down and #keepitloca
