An average of 140 customers a day using new facilitySupporters of the Banking Hub following its launch September 21, 2023 The new Banking Hub in the Oaks Shopping Centre in Acton appears to have got off to a strong start with an average of 140 people a day using it following its opening six months ago. Community activist Maire Lowe, who was one of the driving forces behind its foundation says this makes it the most used in the UK. It was the sixth to be launched in the UK and the first in London. There is a possibility of services being expanded if footfall increases with the installation of a cash machine before Christmas being discussed. Adam Taylor, Managing Director of Cash Access UK, which helps run the hub, confirmed that the Acton branch was one of the busiest and added that local customers and businesses are continuing to be survey to understand what services are most needed. Residents have asked for more flexible hours with a Saturday opening. Cash Access UK will be in Acton later in the month for a progress meeting and the level of demand for services will be a key factor in any decision to expand operating hours. The Banking Hub currently has a three-year lease and supporters are reminding local people that the ‘use it or lose it’ principle applies and, despite the strong start, the more people who visit, the better its prospects will be. The banks, who ultimately own the Hub, will be looking at visitor numbers when making decisions about the Hub’s future. The survey continues and, even if you have completed it before, you are invited to share your views.
