Thirty-seven per cent of entries earned grades A* to B, with 16% at A* or A. The overall pass rate remained at 96%, the same level as in 2014 and 2015. The results have seen students securing places at prestigious Universities including University College London (UCL), King’s College London (KCL), Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and the University of Surrey. Places have been earned on courses including Medicine, Mechanical Engineering, Law, Chemical Engineering, Economics, Music Production and Photography. ( Jumana, Vinesh and Minesh) Outstanding individual success stories include Vinesh Ramgi who secured two A* grades and one A. He will be reading Maths and Computer Science at UCL. Edona Korenica, Minesh Makwana and Jumana El-Nagi each earned two As and a B, which secured their places to read Geography at KCL, Engineering at UCL and Mechanical Engineering at QMUL respectively. Hillary Ongaratto’s A and two Bs won her a place to study Spanish at UCL. The breadth of creative and sporting talent at Acton High was also highlighted by the results, which saw Magdalena Zygmunt secure a place to study photography at the University of Arts London and Ernest Staszak gain a Distinction in his Sports BTEC that will take him to Middlesex to study for a degree in Sports and Exercise. Headteacher Dr Andy Sievewright, who was celebrating his last A Level results day with students before taking up a Headship at a new school in September, said: “My congratulations go to all of our students who have worked so hard to achieve these results and earn their places at University. They can be very proud of their achievements and we wish them every success as they take the next step in their life journeys. “These results offer further evidence of the continuing success story that Acton High’s Sixth form has become. The establishment and development of the Sixth form has been one of the school’s most significant achievements during recent years and I look forward to hearing of its continued success in the future.”
