Former young offenders from an Acton based project have been speaking at the House of Lords. The event celebrated the work of Beyond Youth Custody, the Big Lottery Funded Youth in Focus and the young people they have supported to succeed and achieve, highlighting the important role that voluntary sector organisations play in transforming young people’s lives. The 2 young people from Action West London spoke on a platform which included Dr Phillip Lee, Minister with responsibility for youth justice, Lord Dholakia, Lord McNally and over 150 youth justice partners Peers and MPs. They are now both at University and are also being offered occasional paid consultancy roles at London and national events John Blackmore, Chief Executive of Action West London said: '' The young people from the YTN project were excellent ambassadors for Action West London and really made an impact. They clearly demonstrated how offenders' lives can be turned completely around if they are given the right support and encouraged to take responsibility for their future. We would like to thank Big Lottery for funding the project. We hope that further support from various funders will be available for this type of work to continue'
