185 new flats to be added to the Acton Gardens scheme
Ealing borough’s planning committee has given approval to another phase of the £800 million redevelopment of the South Acton estate. Countryside Properties has been given permission to proceed with phase 7.2 of the Acton Gardens scheme and build 185 new flats with work starting later this year. The new blocks will be built where Frampton Court, 98-100B Avenue Road, Cheltenham Place blocks 6 and 8 and Belgrave Close currently stand. Half of these will be classed as affordable on a habitable room basis and 44 will be ‘Active Living’ units which are designed for older residents and can be adapted for accessibility. Residents in existing sheltered accommodation will be moved into buildings in the new phase on completion which is expected to be in 2024. There will be a courtyard garden at the centre of the development. When all the phases of the project are complete there will be 3,463 new housing units on the 52-acre site, half of which are classed as affordable. The council says equivalent accommodation was offered to social housing tenants on the old site.
